monthly/WEEKEND rides:

  • 5/6/18: Duck River

This is a new trail that offers directional singletrack trail with good flow, minimal climbing, and a fair amount of rock features. It circles the fairly new Duck River Reservoir and is 20 miles in length, although it can be done as an out and back of any length.  It is about one hour north of downtown Birmingham.

  • 6/17/18: Sylaward (Lake Howard)

This trail is a lot of fun. It is an out and back with 4 separate loops off of the out and back section. The trail was machine cut by Trails Unlimited and the NFS and is incredibly smooth, virtually no roots and most of the trail is over hard-pack. This is a very well laid out contour line trail with a great mix of elevation change. Nothing too long or steep but it keeps the blood and pedals pumping. Total length for the entire trail including the 4 loops off the trail is 14.5 miles. You can pick and choose different loops to make it shorter or longer. Trail is well marked with signs, mileage post and colored trail blazes for the different loops. It is about an hour southeast of Birmingham in Sylacauga.

  • 8/12/18: Swayback

This trail by Lake Jordan in Wetumpka is almost completely singletrack with some tight technical sections along with some steep climbs and descents. It is especially beautiful in the spring when the wild azaleas are blooming along the lake. Mile markers and direction arrows are present on the trail. Riders can choose trail combinations for 3-15 miles in length. Maps of trail are available at trailhead. It is 1/12 hours south of Birmingham.

  • 9/23/18: Lake Lurleen

This is a terrific trail that offers plenty of options for mountain bikers. The Ridge Loop trail (approx. 4 miles) is the the most approachable. The Tashka Trail is a 12 mile loop of good singletrack that can be a little technical at times. Add Five Oaks to the Tashka Trail to make it 15 miles. Add the trio of storm loops--Tornado, Storm, and Lightning--to bump it up close to 20 miles; throw in Ridge Loop and you will flirt with 25 miles by the time you return to the car.  It is near Lake Lurleen outside Tuscaloosa.

  • 10/27/18: Mulberry Gap

Summer/fall clinic schedule coming soon.
